Because of the azimuth of the setting moon and the fact that there is a narrow field of view of Mt. Whitney (it’s a bit recessed), there is only one time in the year when you might be able to record a moonset over Mt. Whitney at sunrise, and then only if the weather is cooperating. On this memorable occasion, it appeared that a hooded monk witnessed the event with me.
